Northridge TRACK Update: October 2024
Welcome to the latest edition of our Northridge TRACK newsletter.
In this update, we bring you:
- News on a recent Northridge deal highlight, acting for the founders of StatsBomb, a global sports data and analytics business, on the sale of the company to Hudl, a leading provider of cloud-based technology connecting video and data for the sports industry. The transaction forms part of Northridge’s longstanding relationship with StatsBomb from its inception and the firm’s strong experience of working with other high-growth businesses operating at the intersection of sport and technology;
- A spotlight on Gemini Sports, who are powering AI-assisted roster management decisions from the front office to the field to help sports organisations make faster decisions, deliver and leverage insights in a way that is accessible to all stakeholders, and become more efficient;
- A legal update one year on from the passage of the Online Safety Act, which established a new regulatory regime to address illegal and harmful content online, amidst growing public concern about the prevalence and dissemination of harmful online content and the associated risks to public safety;
- A focus on our client, supertri, the first pro league in the sport of triathlon racing boasting the world’s best athletes racing in a closed-league format. As much as we love advising established sports leagues, the opportunity to build a structure for a sport in a blank space free from legacy models is hugely exciting and allows us to draw on our knowledge from other new competitions, such as our advice on the restructuring of the Barclays Women’s Super League and advice to LIV Golf, to build a best-in-class model for the sport.
